19th – 20th July 2014
Bath & West Showground, Somerset

Welcome to Orchestival

We are on a mission!

Powered by Wagner and Mozart one minute, acid house or drum and bass the next, with surprising and groundbreaking fusions at every turn, Orchestival is a unique opportunity to experience an A-Z of music through the exciting and dramatic medium of a world class symphony orchestra.

Join us on a transformative musical journey for all ages and tastes to celebrate the 21st Century Orchestra.
Experience the power of orchestral and operatic performance within the inspirational lakeside setting of the Bath & West Showground, surrounded by rolling hills in the heart of Somerset.

Get up close and personal with the Philharmonia, the world’s most recorded orchestra and ORCHESTIVAL’S resident “house band,” experiencing virtuoso performances of great symphonic masterpieces as well as bespoke, genre-straddling and utterly unique collaborations with Mercury-nominated folk legends The Unthanks, the king of drum & bass Squarepusher and members of Goldfrapp. Watch a rehearsal, talk with musicians, see what it’s like to sit on the vast Orchestival main stage.

Meet the legendary Cornwall based Kneehigh company, our perfect theatrical partners, with whom we share our passion for excellence and a commitment to accessibility. Working in association with Kneehigh, we have created an extraordinary “pop up” opera company to produce a ground breaking production of Benjamin Britten’s masterful community opera, Noye’s Fludde, the epic story of Noah’s Flood. See Project Noye 2014 to see how you can become involved.

All performances will be introduced live on stage by Orchestival Founder and Artistic Director, Charles Hazlewood, the ‘Acid Hot’ (Observer) international conductor and Somerset resident who thrives upon extending the limits and breaking down convention.

I want to take people on a musical journey and open them up to new experiences ... all the energy of a rock festival but with an Orchestra at it’s heart. It’s for everyone, it’s for now!

Charles Hazlewood, Artistic Director.
